Metronidazole Tablets

【Indications】For treatment of intestinal and parenteral amebiasis (eg, amoebic liver abscess and pleuropulmonary amebiasis), vaginal trichomoniasis, balantidiosis, cutaneous leishmaniasis, dracunculiasis, etc. It is also widely used in the treatment of anaerobic infections.

【Administration and Dosage】1. Usual dosage for adults ① Intestinal amebiasis: 3 times a day with 0. 4-0. 6g each time; 7 days for a course of treatment. Parenteral amebiasis: 3 times a day with 0. 6-0. 8g each time; 20 days for a course of treatment. ② Giardiasis: 3 times a day with 0. 4g each time; 5-10 days for a course of treatment. ③ Dracunculiasis: 0. 2g a time; 7 days for a course of treatment. ④ Balantidiosis: 2 times a day with 0. 2g each time; 5 days for a course of treatment. ⑤ Leishmaniasis: 4 times a day with 0. 2g each time; 10 days for a course of treatment. Repeat the course of treatment at a 10-day interval. ⑥ Trichomoniasis: 4 times a day with 0. 2g each time; or in combination with suppositories (0. 5g per night) for 7-10 days. ⑦Anaerobic infections: 0. 6-1. 2g orally daily in three divided doses, with 7-10 days as a course of treatment. 2. Usual dosage for children ① Amebiasis: 35-50mg/kg of body weight/day orally in three divided doses; 10 days for a course of treatment. ②Giardiasis: 15-25mg/kg of body weight/day orally in three divided doses for 10 days. The same dosage for treatment of dracunculiasis, balantidiosis and trichomoniasis. ③Anaerobic infections: 20-50mg/kg of body weight/day orally.
